So, this is my latest favourite find. A wonderful Kralik knuckle bowl in a mixed decor of solid orange and yellow/black millefiori and some peleton style black stripes against a subtle yellowish green spatter and a translucent green rim and perfect polished pontil. There's lots going on here. This decor should have it's own name, does it??
WOW!! - similar shapes here... http://www.kralik-glass.com/kralik-images/millefiori/tn-kmf.jpg
Let's try that again, shall we ;-) http://www.kralik-glass.com/kralikmillefioriarray.html
That's better Bob... yes Craig's site is a great resource/visual reference for examples of Kralik decors and shapes - I'm a frequent visitor!
I don't know if it's got it's own name, probably so and you're right, there's a lot going on there. So much so, I just had to see it before I sign off! ;) Verynice.
Thanks BB!
Great example, Its a Green Iris piece with millifiore canes. I have a bunch of examples with the odd composition and the same thing? random pelleton, red lozenges and eyeball looking millifiore. The piece should have a mirror-like flash right?
Actually yes it does, it's just harder to notice on lighter coloured pieces.
This is, no doubt, the loveliest one I have ever seen......
Yeah... you know sometimes when you see something, you just have to have it?? Well this was one of those. Strangely enough I bought another one on the same auction site, same week within 4 hours of each other, the words bus and waiting come to mind. I'll post the other when it eventually gets to old Blighty!
This is exceptional Phil. Like Peggy, the best I have seen in these millefiori.
A perfect balance of colour and shape. Congratulations!
Thank you Karen...
Another wonderful piece... beautifully decorated and great shape!
a master piece
Thanks you Rick and Kivatinitz
That really is glorious! Just looking at it makes me smile.
Very nice and unusual combo of techniques.
You got a geed eye, these millifiore pieces can be off-balance with decor. There are many shapes in knuckle bowls
