Mailed Feb. 13 1908 -From Julia to a friend in New York--Postcard from Honolulu,Hawaii to the mainland, writer says this is the ship she is sailing on, under photo front. Seems these ships originated in San Francisco.( 2 years after the Great Earthquake of San Fran in 1906--wondering how many did leave by ship during that era, to avoid another?) There is some water damage at top of card. I do believe this postcard is pretty obscure, and I wonder the name of the ship that left around the stated date of the card cancel.
Large photos will be on later.I am getting another camera in the next few days.
What a great trip this must have been!!
Great postcard! Can you imagine if steamships and trains were our main source of long distance travel today?
Hey! I am all for that!! I used to go from Chicago to the Duluth area every summer to visit my Swedish relatives. I can honestly say--I wish I could find an old train to travel on now!
AND I would love to go on a steamship as well. Never have been,
But not on April 15th, 1912, from London to USA. No sir-ee!!!
