Hello everyone.
These earrings are a recent local purchase for $39.00.
The seller described them as arts & crafts silver, possibly Scottish design and the stones being citrine and tourmaline. They are small....3/4inch!
They were originally screwback fittings which had been removed before the seller bought them........you can see the remains still on the backs.
The seller said she had looped both earrings together and worn them as a double pendant. She had put earring hooks back on through the edge holes to sell them.......I have taken them out and will take the earrings to the jeweller next week to have some hooks fitted properly.
I really love these, but I really do not have any clue as to maker (which possibly was on the screwback), time period, country, type of stones or any of those things that we collectors like to know!!! Everything I have posted is the seller's words!
Would love to hear your thoughts, ideas on these......thanks, Judy
UPDATE: With thanks to Jewels 1900 I am calling these solved with the maker being Zoltan White and Co.
These earrings are beautiful! It's possible that the silver marks were on the screw backs themselves. The garnet screw back earrings I posted not long ago have the marks on the screw backs.
Thanks Bonnie.....I think so too, could not resist buying them......they remind me of something I have seen before, but goodness knows where LOL!!
Found your garnet earrings to refresh the memory.......bugger having markings there!!!
LOL! I can't imagine, Judy............
It took me awhile to find the silver marks on the garnet earrings. Even though my ears have been pierced since 1974, I love the old screw back designs.
That's about the same time I got my ears pierced as well!!! If these earrings still had the screw backs on them, then no way in the world would I have altered them lol. Just can't bring myself to do that.....
Hi Tassie, I think these are Austro Hungarian. The hearts are unusual though.
Judy - I have double piercings in my ears plus a tragus piercing in my right ear. I got my nose pierced 13 years ago for my 50th birthday. My mother said, "Just what you need, another hole in your head". LOL!
Hi Jewels, thank you!! I have seen some Austro Hungarian pieces that Jean (I think) has, and I did wonder if perhaps these could be.......might have to delve a bit deeper into this area!! Thanks again.
OMG Bonnie, really.........I am lucky I ended up with both ears done once all those years ago.....I was ready to bolt after the first one and passed out after the second LOL!!! I bet you did lots of things to make your mother just shake her head lol!!
Judy, they are really nice! I'd never guess Austro Hungarian, Jewels is the Jedi! :-)
Lol for the holes in the head !!!
As you I've only two and was nearly willing to give up after the first...
Thanks Pascale, yes Jewels has such great knowledge, as do you and Bonnie and Jean and too many more to name in just about all areas!! I am really grateful for help from anyone. My 10 or so years of collecting doesn't give me nearly enough information......but I do get a buzz sometimes when I can offer a tiny bit of help.
And no one can know everything all the time either.....so we all get to learn from one another!! (Sorry , that was a bit of a rant!! Don't know where that came from LOL)
Many thanks Caperkid, Bonnie, Vetraio, Nevada, Karen, Martika, Pascale, Mike, Scott, Jean, Alamico, Thomas, Aura and Kiwipaul for the love!! It is always sincerely appreciated!!
Apreciate the love Fortapache, thank you very much!
Zoltan & White. Thats why they look AH but not quite. Also explains hearts. Do a Google search & see what you can find.
Oh, thanks Jewels, I have heard that name before!!! Appreciate your help here very much, thanks.......I am on to the search now LOL!!!

Zoltan & White usually mark their stuff though. I think Jean has a bit of interest & knows more about them.
Thanks Jewels, they sure do look similar .........perhaps because they are small earrings, not pendants or brooches, the mark of some sort would have been on the screw back fitting??
Appreciate the love Poire and Fleafinder, thanks both very much!
Appreciate the love Nevada, thank you!!!
Yep, mark may have been fittings. Screw backs is consistent with Z & W. Drop in on one of Jean's posts & get her to take a look. I'm sure she posted something about Z & W not so long ago.
Austro Hungarian & Z & W are not what I'm usually interested in but you tend to pick a lot of it up when you buy Arts & Crafts. It's the historical revival similarities.
Thanks Jewels, yes will have to drop in on Jean I think!!!
Even if they are not ZW, they surely must be AH anyway!!
I have just come back from taking them to the jewellers......lovely young girl who loves "old" so will manage to put the hooks on without using any heat, which would damage the stones.
They should be ready to pick up on Friday, so will update with a picture then.
Have a look at this link and the pattern in between the moonstones and compare them to the pattern in between the pink stones in my earrings!!!
Is it just wishful thinking or are they the same???

Same, same. Also explains why Z&W always looks similar to AH but not quite.
Who knows why I know that!
Fantastic Jewels!!! So I can safely mark these as solved with thanks to you, as Z&W now?? And can I call them British Z&W Arts & Crafts with an AH influence??? LOL or is that going a bit overboard!!

Hi Judy this is my only posting on Z & W. like Jewels1900 your earrings do have a look of his work.
The second link is of a ring and gives some back ground information on Z & W. His work was influenced on Austrian Hungarian jewellery. Z & W jewellery is very much sort after, I'm always on the look out for either Austrian Hungarian pieces or Z & W.
Thanks Jean, I am just about ready to mark these out as solved , and as being Zoltan White & Co. My link in comment no. 22 pretty much seals it for me!!!
Can't wait to get them back from the jewellers so I can wear them.!!
Appreciate the love Val, thank you!
Hello tassie ! you look so pretty. nice earrings here reminds me of the aurora news over tas last few nights.Did you manage to catch them?
Aw thank you FF !! I hate having my picture taken......never happy with them!
Glad you like the earrings and no......I still haven't managed to see the Aurora yet!! Will catch it one day I suppose (or night I should say) lol!!!
love your profile pic Tassie !!
Aw, thanks Sean, thought it was about time to come out from behind the flowers!
Appreciate the love too, thank you!!
Picked up the earrings today!! Very happy with how the jeweller has put the hooks on. As probably most of you would know, she was not able to solder fittings on as the heat would damage the stones.
Hi Judy, they look lovely.
Thanks Jean, I am really pleased with them!
Judy! What a pretty devil you are! It's great to put a face on a CW friend :-))
Your jeweller made a clever mounting for your earrings, love them even more now!
Aw thanks Pascale, yes I think it was time to just be me now......
This jeweller seems to be quite good, can think outside the square when necessary, and is really interested in old pieces! I have had them on all afternoon....I love them!
Appreciate the love Kyra and Melanie, many thanks!
Thanks very much Val and popsKen for the love, really appreciated!!
