I haven't purchased any jewelry in a long time. My best source had finally dried up since my friend quit at Salvation Army. I'm happy for her none the less and she deserved a better job and work environment. I never realized how toxic Salvation Armies can be (at least this one) and the stress they cause their employees. The new manager now hoards everything in the back office and rarely puts out anything but junk. A sharp eye may spot a bit of silver now and then but not often. So my stop at "Savers" today finally broke the drought. I spotted this necklace in their better jewelry showcase. I asked to see it and was surprised at how heavy it was. I also notice the "J. Crew" hang tag with it's tiny CZ stone. While the prong set stones all seem to be a mix of either Lucite-Acrylic and glass these "statement" necklaces are far from cheap. Especially if they are retired pieces that are no longer available. I believe this one is from the 80' or early 90's. The design is over the top gorgeous and very detailed with the topaz colored stones adding just enough sparkle. The dangles create movement as they hang from the heavy black stones. Quite hard to photograph. The dark stones absorb the ambient light like a sponge. This would look perfect on a would be vampiress or "Elvira" just in time for Halloween. -Mike-
Oh boy, Mike! I only found one other on the web, and that one had a tiny stone missing.
It's such a shame that the manager hoards all the good stuff . Greedy So-and-So!!
Thanks Bonnie....could you send me the link to the one you found ?? I haven't found anything in my searches that was even close. Their website has a few statement pieces but nothing like this one.
Wow that's big! In size and design. Good finding Mike after your drought :)
Thanks Karen... it's even more impressive in real life :)
Great find Mike
