I have had a quite large (dia 400mm) Japanese glass fishing float bumping around in my pool the last few years, and it now has a new friend.

The friend is an Australian wood duck, a species common around much of Australia. I live in suburban Sydney but am surrounded by bush reserves and a natural creek, and wood ducks raise large families here and often venture into yards to eat grass. They have landed in our pool before, but Matilda here seems to have moved in permanently.

She eats our grass, swims in the pool, sleeps happily in the garden, and of course, being a duck, leaves lots of slimy messages for us.
I'm not sure if she likes the float; they seem to bob around near each other ok, but Matilda appears to have no real appreciation for Japanese glass.

How much fun to have a duck as a pet Karen LOL. Best thing is you don't have to feed it :-)
