This was bought with a few other pieces of silver that Geri put away for me. I think it was about 5 bucks. The pin, being vertical instead of horizontal, ensures against the brooch falling away from the fabric. It measures 1 3/4" by 3/4".

It's lovely and looks heavy. The vertical pin is a good idea.
karen - it does have a good amount of weight to it. The rollover clasp is at the top, so it shows that somebody had their thinking cap on when this brooch was created.
