This has to be my favorite pattern by Thompson Glass Company. This is Thompson's pattern number 18 that's best known by it's collectors' name of Bow Tie. The bow tie motif is best recognized on more vertical pieces, as shown in the stem of the stand; whereas the plateau only exhibits a half bow tie.

    OMN: Thompson #18
    MFG: Thompson Glass Company
    YOP: 1889
AKA: Bow Tie, American Bow Tie
    Size: 9-1/4" OD (8-3/4" ID) x 5-3/4" H

I have a punch bowl that someone on here told me was Thompson bow tie pattern. Is there a site that shows how to tell? I just found another box of this thick heavy clear glass stuff. I am cleaning out four generations of stuff and have no idea what some of it is except good for target practice because you know if you hit it.

@fhrjr2: post your bowl again and we can take a look. There are many examples of the pattern on the web via a Google search and looking at images.
