This is an old discarded library book. This was the old system of borrowing books where i remember the librarian will manually chop the due date of the book on the card allocated at the back of the book and lending an item is based on good old trust that you will return it. Nowadays in school you even need to produce your Identification card just to enter the library. How times have changed!
This old books brings back sweet old memories.
Title:The Enormous Apple Pie
Author:Diana Ross
Date of publication:1950
Enjoy!
Your photos brought back memories of the library in our downtown park. When I first went there it was a stone cottage, and the library was 2 rooms- Outside many old fellows used to sit a tables and play cards all day. On the benches, Native Americans slept around, many inebriated with the police moving them out. You see nothing like this scene for 50 decades!!I still prefer those "old days". It was totally safe there, a place of peace and good fellowship.. Now a large modern library sits there--sad thing is, the city may be tearing it down!!! Because of the internet, the attendance has diminished dramatically! And the once Norman Rockwell scene has become a stomping ground for gang activity.
I enjoyed seeing your book, with the vestiges of a better time... just inside the cover.. Thanks!
Dear PCC so glad to have stirred and brought back good old memories in you.i totally understand how you feel as sometimes development so fast that you ask yourself "Eh what just happened there??" And a sense of loss just sweep over you all of a sudden. I hope they do preserve this place you talked about so fondly!
typo*development happens so fast*
I like to walk back in time and experience the love for that old stone cottage right now---and just say there.I could read for eternity and hopefully never age another day. Ahhhhh.
