A friend of mine has this fabulous Butterfly (Papillon) Platter that looks quite old and that is completely unsigned. He asked me if I could help with it's identification, name, maker and age. It measures approximately 13" in diameter, is concave in shape, has some good age wear and has a very intricate attached ormolu frame with handles. Since the experts are all here at CW, I thought I would upload it and hope that someone recognizes it. Is it possible that a signature or marks could be under the ormolu? Thanks everyone. BOB .....I have a feeling that it could be French....
