This green malachite glass vase approaches 10" tall and is about 5" in diameter at the widest. It was mold blown with a ground base. Six nymphs or "Graces" dance around the circumference. The classical inspirations of this theme derive, I believe , from the "three graces" as depicted in Roman art. At the height of the Art Deco era, Lalique depicted the Bacchantes on his beautiful crystal beginning in 1927.

I believe this vase was made in Bohemia c. 1930 - 1960 despite the fact that some enterprising and devious person etched R. LALIQUE FRANCE on the base - still, it is a nice design and predates the ones of a different design attributed to Hoffman that one commonly finds in online auctions, and which are still being made using the original molds. I knew this was not Lalique when I bought it and I paid a fair price for what I considered an interesting example of mis-marked art glass. As always - CAVEAT EMPTOR.

Frantisek Pazourek design for Heinrich Hoffmann/Curt Schlevogt circa 1932. Modern copies also known from 3 Czech companies, Desna, Schubert Cristal and Frantisek Halama.

Thank you olebodie - a nice deco object despite the markings and quite a bit more affordable than actual period Lalique vases.
