This machine was given to me by one of the freecyclers from Evanston,Il.I use freecycle in our community to give away items that I no longer need or want,it's a great program and it really helps to keep unused items out of the landfill. While listing some of my items to give I came across the ad for this machine,I replied to the ad and was extremely lucky to be the first to reply because these type of items are usually taken right away.To make a long story short,my only plan was to visit this freecycler to take a look at the machine but I wound up bringing it home.I assumed it was going to need some repair but was pleasantly surprised when I discovered that it actually worked,It sews beautifully and the cabinet only has a few surface scratches that will be an easy fix.I have already recovered the seat of the the stool with a mohair fabric and will get to the repairs on the cabinet soon.I feel very fortunate to have received this freebie.
Your new machine has been very well cared for and is in great shape . I forget the model of this Singer , but I can tell from the photos that it has what is called a potted motor . That means that it is gear driven and this machine will sew just about anything you can throw at it . Just do not try to sew leather on a daily basis with it and it will last a very long time . You are lucky to have gotten the stool with it as well . Very nice .
Thank you Nancy,I appreciate the information you offered on my Singer.Have a wonderful day!
Thank you for the love on my Singer officialfuel, have a wonderful weekend!!
A treasure...You have a Singer Model 201 variation - the "Top of the Line" machine from that era. Depending upon the serial # you'll find these machines in this cabinet in the early 50's.
Again, a beautiful find!

It's a lovely 201 and you are lucky to have the table and stool to go with it! What a great pick up. If you post the serial number I can give you the batch date. The Singer website no longer has the full lists but I have them saved on my computer.
