martika

I found this silver necklace in a glass cabinet of a charity shop and bought it literally for pennies. I know it has very little monetary value, but my gut feeling is it might be an old pendant. The pendant, unlike the chain has no hallmark, but there are some letters on the back UZR +.
These markings remind me a writing on some of my old filigree pieces.
I thought the pendant is silver too and the blue stone might be turquoise, but now I can see green hue on the metal in the blown up picture and doubt about the stone. Any help appreciated!!! :)
martika, that's really beautiful! Gonna go see if I can scare up anything on the web.
That's a piece of carved turquoise.
Thank you, Bonnie!!! :)
Don't worry about the verdigris - that will come off with a good cleaning. If it had been at some time in it's life lying next to jewelry that had a good dose of verdigris, then it just transferred onto the silver.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! :D
I wasn't sure about this, but you confirmed my hopes.
Native American, from what I can find, but no spelling out of the initials UZR....
You're welcome!
One of the nicest pieces I have seen Martika...... well done!!
post it here and you may get more help.

Very nice! And for pennies... Bonnie transmitted her buying skills ;-D
hi marti nice necklace uzr is the short of Urzhar, east kazakhstan..wondering if there s a link but seem rather off!
I can't see the mark clearly but could it be a fancy I and ZR? I wonder if the mark is short for Izrael. The style is right, their jewelry often has the name of the country marked, plus your having seen it on filigree pieces would fit in.
What a mystery.....I just looked again and see "EZR". That's a dead end, too.
GAH!!!
Thank you dear CW members for your help, comments and love clicks!!!

Davyd286, Fleafinder - thanks for the suggestions. I think anything is possible.
Kyra - I will compare myself to Bonnie, when I will find some gold for £1 or £2! I didn't find any yet. :)
