Hi folks I would like to know who the maker of this very pretty and fine porcelin bowl could be. No marks anywhere . The bottom is translucent . Picked it up yrs ago at a local Goodwill . Gave 20$ for it. Thought I did pretty good! Thanks Jeanine
It is beautiful and well painted. There were many decorating studios in the USA, as well, of course, in Limoges, France who would buy porcelain blanks from some of the finest makers, and then hand paint them. Stouffer of Chicago , and Pickard comes to mind.
In the 1920-30’s it was common for women to paint ceramics as a hobby, but yours looks like an accomplished artist did it. There may be a signature within the decoration, so check with a magnifying glass.
I need to check in more often! Thank u so much I have not thought to look for signature in design , always the bottom . First thing on my list tomm am will be just that! I do hope I find something so I can share Mare! thanks Jeanine
would this be called a garniture set? i think that the kind of gold it has on it will tell you when and where it was made. i forget where, but it was very popular somewhere - France, maybe...
Hello thank you both for the info. Sure enuf it was in design MaryH1956 . ho2cultcha I read a very interesting article about garnitures. I suppose this could be that! Now the one article said it could've been produced in Chicago which I find surprising . Alot of it there now that I've been searching . Thanks again!
