I have had this 4.5 by 7.5 inch bowl for some time now. Still have never seen anything like it. When I first seen it I thought it was a leather cup, picked it up and set it down a number of times, happy I decided to purchase it. The bowl must have been very beautiful when it was newly made. Decorated with small silver spikes and brass tacks on inside and outside. Has nice patch work with I think is intestine secured with wire. Has very nice patina with many spikes and tacks worn off. I wonder if the design has any meaning I am sure it does.

i think that the wire and the red strap are a repair job. it's probably an eating bowl.
