Hello CW friends!!!
I just acquired this amazing little herringbone canvas covered suitcase, or trunk if you will. I was amazed at the condition this one is in. I did give it a good steam cleaning and polished the brass buttons. To find those style of leather handles still intact is fairly rare.
Based on the lock style, the Jenny Lind style brass buttons and the handle type, I'd place this one sometime between 1850 to 1890. Just not sure of the exact decade this one was made.
I love the herringbone canvas and the lock style on this one. The fact that it survived all these years is just incredible. The case is 17" long, 12" tall and 9" deep.
I'll post the purple striped interior in the next post.
Thanks for stopping to have a look!

Stunning Find !!! So much Character it has !!
Rose,
Thanks for the quick love and comment. Thank you so very much!!!
I love the handles! Neat old find.
It's a good one Scott, and such a great size.
I would love to see you at the international airport using your luggage, in a wonderful hat, ready to board through the first class gate (of course).
Drill,
Thanks Pal! I thought it was a pretty neat find myself.
Karen,
Thanks! I love the smalls. They're easy to work with and take up much less space. Wouldn't that be a sight!!! If I walked into the airport with one of my trunks wearing a top hat, TSA would probably think I was a bit crazy and have me removed from the airport. So, I'd better stick to my Samsonite:)
Thanks everyone for the loves

What an absolutely delightful piece js -- so love the contrast of the tan and leather and brass -- this one is special.
T-man,
Thanks friend! I do appreciate the kind comment. I was really surprised at the condition when I found it. A bit dirty, but all there. Nothing a good cleaning couldn't correct. Thanks very much for the appreciation and for stopping in. Much appreciated!!!
