THIS CAP IS IN FAIR SHAPE, HAS AN OIL SPOT ON THE EDGE. THE CADET'S NAME IS IN THE HAT. NO IDEA AS TO WHAT YEAR BUT LOOKS TO BE FAIRLY OLD. THE INSIGNIA SAYS THE CITADEL 1842. SEEMS TO BE OF VINYL CONSTRUCTION.

I would say it is fairly modern-- 1970s or later.

I would suspect you can research the name through a Citadel Association of Graduates website and should be able to determine IF or WHEN he graduated.

The emblem would be referring to when the Citadel military college was founded, not the age of the hat. This is a current design that cadets still wear today.
