Hello everyone.
A really nice Westminster chiming clock that we have had for about 3 years. Bought at an Antique Shop all working, but without any instructions!! Oh, came with a key lol, that is always a plus! It is quite a big piece measuring 2 ft long!!!
Had no idea what we were doing with it but with a lot of help from Google managed to work out all the things we needed to know to start it up set the time, keep it going etc, etc...... and the most important part of all was to turn the chimes off before going to bed!!! 15 minutes comes around very quickly and loudly if you are trying to sleep!! even though the clock is in another room.
The chimes really are lovely, surprising how quickly you do adjust to hearing them, so now quite often they are just missed !!
And of course the youngest grandchild is still amused and is never sure if it is the clock or the front door bell!!
Magician.....hope you and everyone else like this, it really is very nice!!
Thanks, Judy
Love this clock, a beauty !
Thanks very much PhilD, glad you like it, we do too!!
Mega-gorgeous Tassie ! :)
Wow, thanks Mike for such a lovely comment!!
I lived my childhood with many (about 5 or 6) clocks in the house, all donging at different times. You could be lucky to have 10 minutes of peace. After much complaint my father ended up putting felt between the striker and the bell on each of them. He never let them run down of course - bad for them so he said!
Did you really Karen!!! The only time I heard a striking clock was at the house of one set of grandparents......so this is a bit of a novelty to me still, and it is in "the front room" too as it should be lol.....would not go as far as calling it the parlour haha!!
This is a beauty, Judy!
Thanks Bonnie, much appreciated!!
Great clock.....and I can not Sleep here....LOL!!
Lol, thanks Rose!!
Thanks very much Thomas!
Judy,
That is such an incredible looking mantle clock. A much more beautiful design than what I usually see. I love the chimes of these old clocks. We have an antique clock that rings a bell on the half hour and chimes on the hour. Unfortunately, whatever the hour is, it chimes that many times, and LOUDLY:) We've now became accustomed to it.
Thanks for posting this classic Tambour, beautiful clock. Sorry about the link to mine. I have no clue how to make it available?
Thanks very much Scott, glad you like it!!
This one does the whole westminster chime on the hour as well as then sounding out the number of hours too. Then on the quarter hour it does a quarter of a chime, on the half hour it does half a chime and then on the three quarter hour it does 3quarters of the chime!!!!
That is well and truly a lot of chimes per day!!! Your clock sounds nice Scott, a bit more "civilized" than this one of ours. The day time is fine, but it definitely has to have the chimes turned off for bedtime LOL!!
No worries Magician and thanks for naming this clock for me....I like the name!!

Very impressive and so glad you're enjoying this clock to the full. It's very imposing and I love the look of your mantelpiece, ornaments and of course with the piece-de-resistance - the clock in the centre.
I remember as a child in the 70s that I got a fright when one clock I was crawling towards started to chime! I probably heard the clock, whirr and wondered what on earth was going to happen!
