I bought a pitcher, bowl, and 6 glasses at a garage sale about a year ago. This is WAY out of my realm of knowledge, but the lady said it belonged to her grandmother, had been in storage the last 40 years, and was probably at least 70 years old. I don't know if any or all of this is true. Can anybody help me identify what this is? Thank you!!
try researching NORTHWOOD. look on the bottom to see if there is a diamond shape with an N inside.
I got an answer from a friend on Facebook:
These all fall under the glass category of Early American Pattern Glass or EAPG. I think the first two are made by a company called "U.S. Glass" and the pattern is called flower with cane. (at least it is very similar to that pattern)
The last one is also made by the US Glass Company and is usually called Panelled 44 Athenia.
They are, indeed, by the United States Glass Company. "Flower with Cane" was originally called No. 15, 141 and introduced in 1912. "Reverse 44" was originally given both a name and a number: Athenia, No. 15, 140 and introduced in the same year. US Glass Company sometimes gave their patterns only numbers, and more often gave them names and numbers. The stain and gilding on your pieces is in excellent condition. Often these are found worn from use. Treasure them!
