This is a great website. This is one of my pieces I purchased recently.
I was told it was a Shamans/Medicine Mans mask. I did some research and found the bone as the "mask" is vertebrae from a buffalo (second pic). It is mounted on a bone or stick and wrapped and stitched in leather. The feathers as well as the hair strands are attached with tin or copper metal. I believe the hair is buffalo as well. The wand length is around 19".
It's kinda creepy and my guess would be it would be used to ward off evil spirits curses etc. Just looking for someone elses insite. Thank you so much.
