Hanging light--found it at a garage sale

This is a beautiful light. I know its been rewired, because the cord is new, as is the light fixture. Looks like it could have, or should have, a glass dome or something over the bulb? The young lady I bought if from said it belonged to her grandmother but I don't know if that's true or not. It only has one bulb, wondering if it can be converted into a multi bulb (ie. LED) lamp? I'd love to hang it over my dining room table, but just not sure it would be enough light as it is?
