I think this is my only old presidential pin. We jokingly made his slogan, "I put the FOR in FOR PRESIDENT."

Around town I posted a bunch of blow-up images of an old Yogi Bear pin with him at center and his slogan, "Whatever our opponent promise, we promise you more" and "Vote for Yogi Bear!"

But, that concludes the political talk (lest it blow up into debate as is most American's wont.)

I went at 8:30, so there were few people. All of them, save for one person I knew (and myself), were retiree-age.

      Hey SpiritBear,
I was asked to remove my button also a R,W&B Eldridge Cleaver of the Black panther party saying "If you are not part of the solution you are part of the problem" I knew they wouldn't allow a modern Hillay or Trump Ect. button but thought a 50 year old one would okay, I guess not even George Washington can slide.
Hate to say but I think this Hughes button is likely a early 1970s reproduction and this one being marked 1916 is a perfect example of why APIC members (American Political Items Collectors) vow not to sell reproductions as they can cause too much confusion in the hobby and why reproduction buttons these days must be clearly marked as such under Federal Law.
Still some people look for and collect such buttons and they seem to be going up in value.

PoliticalPinbacks, thank you. Is it one of the ones that Kleenex put out?
    4. PoliticalPinbacks PoliticalPinbacks, 8 years ago
That could well be or maybe a gas station give out I will do a little digging, The front looks like the 1916 version and displays well just the back looks more like 1968 - 1972 I can't see the mark opposite the Hughes 1916 if it reads AO-72 then it is the Kleenex version if my memory serves me ( it more often doe's not serve me very well these days )

Na urs if ya want some I have c2000 on display + 100s to a 1000 duplicates in boxes - my buttons overflowith and I have nobody to leave them to Soooo NP

Thank you for the offer, but I will have to decline still.

Interestingly, I picked up a pin from a thrift store today. It's for SADD, back when they were Students Against Driving Drunk, rather than what they currently are now: Students Against Destructive Decisions.

NP open ended if ya decide so, Many "students" pins for this that and the other have been becoming more collectible so likely well worth hanging on to, So far the Student Strike pins top the list, We had 2 strikes when I was in HS one anti war and one school wide strike because they cut the number of days we could miss before failing neither one had a favorable outcome lol
    11. SpiritBear, 8 years ago
Most strikes don't. The song I cannot find, as it's some odd light and upbeat rock song that occasionally plays on my radio (which plays many obscure songs), but the lyrics were something like, How many times has it come to pass that a revolution just didn't last. Your story there reminds me of that. LOL.
I looked the pin up on e-Bay and was surprised to see that one sold for $4.

Sad but true ours sure didn't, (wonders if your getting the button bug lol) I like them because they show a little snap shot of history that too often repeats itself, so many of my 1960s protest buttons are just as relevant toady.

I have about 15 buttons. 12 of them are above my head, pinned to the upper bunk bed. LOL.
