Really nice late 19c Shell Cameo Brooch, this has been really well carved, I was wondering if anyone knew who the lady on the brooch was. I believe it may be a Greek/Roman goddess. It is unhallmarked but tests as high grade silver and I would date it to about 1880 - 1900. Please let me know for future reference, as I recently sold this one.

How nice is your cameo! I think 1880 at least, maybe a little earlier :-)

The lady is a Bacchante, Bacchus/Dionysos priest, the vine grapes in her hair are the clue :-)
