This item was found in our collections at our historical society. The label identifies it as "World War I French breast plate". However, it is clearly not a breast plate as it sits too low on the body, and I also doubt that it is French. It has no other identifying markings on it. The neck strap is woven and khaki colored and is adjustable. The metal looks like it has been bent inwards to fit more snug on the person who wore it. It is 20 cm from each end of the metal plate. Does anyone have any idea when this was used and by whom?
