I am a shameless trash-picker and found this item recently. The handle appears to be a fine rosewood whereas the metal end is a rusting iron with some dried paint adorning it. As you can see in the one photo the overall length is about 7". Any ideas on what this might be?

Very interesting. I wonder if it's meant to be used to carry something else.
      I'm a shameless trash picker, too. :-)))))))

These are made to grab something by a strap. Appears made for some specific strap.

My dad had some. Some cowboy (and other) boots had loops at top and these were used to pull a tight boot onto the foot.
