    I purchased this photo of a German plane along with this oil painting of what appears to be a diagram of the plane in the photo with the exception of the spade that I can't find in the photo

      Not the same paint scheme to start with. The pic shows squadron leader chevrons.

      Thanks Blunderbuss2! I'm sure glad you know,because I'm not into planes like that, I just thought the photo and the painting were pretty neat and at 1 buck each the price was right!

      The drawing at right is a less than accurate rendering of the WWII German fighter aircraft the Focke-Wulf Fw 190D-9. The Ace of Spades was the unit insignia of the German WWII fighter unit "Jagdgeschwader 53" and was featured on the nose of their aircraft. However, JG 53 never flew this type of aircraft: they exclusively flew the Messerschmitt Bf 109 in its D–G variants through to the end of the war.
