My only pair of sunglasses, bought at an optical shop in Pasadena, California that still carries vintage pairs around May of 2016, and brought it back with me to the Philippines. My guess is this could be from the early-90's, when Shady Character dropped the "James Dean Eyewear" name due to conflicts with the James Dean estate (I saw a 1989 Shady Character catalog still using the name at the time).
I used to collect a lot of vintage sunglasses made in the 1950's to the 1980's, but due to raising capital for my own multimedia studio, I sold all of them but kept this one as my signature pair.
The 48-24 size fits my face perfectly and comfortably without ever falling off, and it is basically a 1950's Tart Optical FDR, but with a totally 1980's color scheme of a matted, marbled Burgundy. My two favorite decades of style combined in one pair. Had it fitted with a pair of deadstock polarized Persol sunglasses lenses in grayish blue.
