Not sure if it's Japanese or Chinese or the age. Any information will be greatly appreciated. Believe it's an antique but not sure if the period.

Nice and unusual!
It seems to be a Chinese paktong (metal alloy) oil opium lamp, lacking the thick glass chimney.
