I have this beautiful old choker that I love wearing but I'm thinking about restringing it. It's another one from my Grandma's collection, with black Murano glass wedding cake beads decorated with gold foil, the traditional pink "rosebuds" and some blue "flowers" with orange centres.
It's strung on blue (silk?) cord but it's heavy, and I've had a couple of necklaces from this collection break recently. I'd hate to lose any of these beads especially as it's only just long enough to fit round my neck!
Thanks valentino and letilka for the love!
Valentino, that's what I'm worried about. I'm thinking beading wire would be better for these due to the weight, and I've read that glass beads can cut through cord if the edges are sharp. I like the blue colour shining through the clear beads though.
Ironically, the last one that broke (thankfully in the house when I picked it up) was strung on wire, but it had rusted right through in several places!
Thank you to the following for the love!

unique! love the little pink roses/swirls!
Hi valenitno97, thanks for the advice, any input is appreciated! That's what I love about this site.
No Walmart in Scotland, but plenty beading shops here have Fireline, and probably plenty of fishing shops too ;)
I'm lucky enough to have a well stocked bead/jewellery supplies shop nearby, and I will heed your advice on crimps - I promise not to scrimp!!
"Don't scrimp on your crimp!" Words to live by!
It's a good motto Celiene, isn't it?
Feafinder, thanks - all the pink swirls are different, I can spend too long looking at them!
