I am completely out of my league here: I think it is carved jade and it might be a Chinese amulet.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much for your help, Mary. I also thought that it was rather new based on the cord, but I had no idea what it was supposed to be used for. I think I will put it on one of my cabinets - it will look just great. Thanks again, Mary!

Thanks so much for all of your comments. I will keep it, fleafinder:) And Mary, even though I would have preferred it to be older, I think you are correct. But because I paid $1 at a church bazaar (That's less than 75 cents US) I am totally fine with it. It will look great on the cabinet!
Thank you for the link. Ours do look similar. I have another one I will post and see if we get any additional hits. I do know that mine was purchased long before 2007, not to say that they have been making for some time before.
