Looking for a name for this item and any information available. I purchased it for my niece in an antiques store and would like to be able to tell her something about it when i give it to her. Nine inches tall.

This figure was made by Weil of California sometime between 1946 and 1956. Weil of California was located on San Fernando Road in an industrial area of Los Angeles during those years. They produced a large line of delightful figural vases and planters along with their large production of hand-painted dinnerware.

Their vases were often unmarked (as I assume this is) and originally likely bore a foil label. That label turns up on a great variety of decorative objects as a result of selling the company (in 1956) to a New York importing firm after the death of Max Weil.

I purchased one of these vases a few years back at an estate sale. I'm thinking I should post a pic. Mine could possibly be made by Weil. I had never heard of Weil before.
