Three vases in the dreaded "cased peloton" decor - from left to right in the first picture, they stand 8" (20.3 cm), 9 7/8" (25 cm), and 10" (25.3 cm) tall.

My collection is small and my knowledge is shallow compared to several of the folks here in this CW group and I am aware that there has been some contention over this decor. Pictures of it (here) have all but disappeared so I thought it should be shown. I'd also like to add a couple other thoughts. First, I think "cased peloton" (thank you jericho) is a far better description than simply "peloton". To my mind, glass called "peloton" has a very tactile surface. Second (and possibly a novel thought), I look at these three vases and I see a very similar decor by two different makers. There is a noticeable difference in the application of the "strings" between the first two vases and the third. Is it possible that this decor was made by more than one glass house?

I am of the belief that at least a couple, possibly more, made a similar décor.

That was one of the primary "points of contention" in discussions and attributions of this decor. The now departed individual, believed that the decor could be used to identify all glass in the decor as one house, and I have always believed it represented at least a couple, and possibly more.

The only real key to identifying these accurately is to identify the shapes through other decors, and even that is difficult with these.

      Great examples though....

Thank you welzebub - so the idea wasn't such a novel thought but it's nice to know that I'm not just imagining things.

At least we can all agree on the catch-all Czech Art Deco. I have heard a local call this interwar period the First Republic. I don't know how historically accurate that description is, but it sets itself apart from the communist republic and the democratic republic.
