I have the opportunity to buy this rug for under $40.00. It measure approx 19 by 39 inches. The rug is in very good shape with bright colors. What appears to be rounded corners are square I didn't have time to photograph it correctly. The 1st image is the front the other 3 are details of the back.
I don't know much about rugs. Can anyone hazard a guess on the the age? Also is it American made or Oriental?

Could it be a handmade rag hook rug? What a great rug! There's a nice example of an antique rag hook rug of a sailing ship on Etsy if you want to compare.
