I was told by a Rosenthal professional that this set was from 1951, but it seems to match better with date marks from the late 30s to early 40s. There appears to be 15 place settings (saucers with case shown). I would really like to know more about it.
I believe the mark was in use from 1939 -65, although I’m not sure how much was produced during WWII. Earlier marks had an R & C below the crown
I thank you for your comment. I look forward to finding out more about them.
I looked on replacements.com, but didn’t find the pattern, however a lot of patterns didn’t have names, just numbers, which the numbers in the last pic may help you with. Also Rosenthal used a shape name and a pattern name, which makes it even more confusing, especially when people sell on eBay or other sites and aren’t aware of this. Post a pic of the cup, that maybe will help find the shape name
I will post pics of the other items as well to see if that helps. I have spent extensive time on replacements and other sites and while I find similar patterns, I don't find the exact one. Nor do I have a definitive answer on the date. Thomas Lang at Rosenthal seemed to think it was 1951, but that is contrary to the dates I see on other websites. He also put me in contact with the art historian at the Porzellanikon who may be able to help. But, I know that she is quite busy and that can take time. I have been able to track down information on some other China items from Tiffany and from Faberge. I am doing the research for my girlfriend as she recently came across them through a project of hers.
