Recent acquisition of what I believe might be an authentic Black Powder Pistol. Marked with a Crown and GR also has 7/1 on Brass butt. Does show some pitting overall nice shape wondering how to tell if it's a reproduction or not.

The fact that it is in CA is not a good sign to start with. I've seen repros just like this with the regimental markings. Hard to tell by pix, so take it to somebody who knows. You might 1st look closely for a seam in the barrel.

I'm having it looked at Saturday so I will update it soon but I don't see what state it's in has to do with anything items move all around the world all the time. Thanks Blunder

CA has a concentration since that's where they are stockpiled because of movies. The regimental numbers look cast rather than stamped.

So I just got the experts opinion and he believes it to be authentic and to be a British Light Dragoon Pistol. He said these are pretty rare and the condition is decent.

      That's great if he's correct.

Looks good-- I see nothing that would make me suspect it was a repro.
