I do love my glass jewelry. I found this necklace today in the thrift shop which is across the street from where I bought my "gift" trinket box. I think the beads are mouth blown.
I also found a somewhat unusual .925 pendant/charm which I will post later.
    Thanks for stopping by,
    Bonnie

val - could very well be. I think it's really pretty. Does the barrel clasp look like a mid-century design?

Really nice Bonnie......and what a price!!!!
I was just reading up on this as I wasn't sure if it is the same as "goldstone".
It is apparently, and made through a few time periods.....a bit confusing.....I thought "goldstone" was man made and "aventurine" was natural!!!
I think I should give up now??? LOL

karen - I was surprised at the price, as I also bought a rather odd sterling charm/pendant along with it for another 53 cents.

fleafinder - today the hunt is on for a ceiling light lampshade that allows the light to shine directly through the shade. It's going to go in my kitchen.

Lovely shape to these beads. Interested to know what makes you think they are mouth blown (because I wouldn't have a clue) - is it the shape/irregularities?
    10. Efesgirl Efesgirl, 8 years ago
pebble - yes, the shape of the beads is very irregular.

Thank you, I'm always learning something new here! I have some old beads that are a similar shape, but all different.
    12. lentilka11, 8 years ago
      The beads are so beautiful!!

Bonnie and Fleafinder.....what's the go? Was I being amusing? that isn't what was intended.
I have quite a few "goldstone" pieces from antique to modern and have never called them "aventurine".......there is a quartz aventurine which seems to be mainly sparkly green.
Just trying to learn here girls :)))

Tassie, I find the term "aventurine" confusing too. I have a necklace with green aventurine gemstone beads on it, but I've also seen the name applied to different glass beads. I'd love to know what it means in the context of glass!

Hi Pebble, glad I am not the only one........the 2 links below might sort it out for us.....

Thanks Tassie. I've seen the name applied to so many different colours of glass that I took it to mean glass with sparkly bits!
    17. fleafinder fleafinder, 8 years ago
absolutely not tassie we just love your honesty!
u know i think the same as you most times....
On the topic of aventurine and goldstone i laughed as i believe i will think the same way too!haha
    18. TassieDevil TassieDevil, 8 years ago
Oh, thanks Fleafinder!!! No worries, all good now......thank you :)
I will try and post some of my goldstone pieces tomorrow.

The aventurine glass in should have coppery flecks spread evenly throughout a solid color, which Tassie's link confirms. The correct name for Efesgirl's beads is Sommerso glass: colored glass and metallic flecks under a layer of clear glass.
    20. TassieDevil TassieDevil, 8 years ago
Really Davyd......Sommerso glass.....not something I have heard of before......thanks for that info, I guess it would be easier if we could just call it all "Italian Glass" LOL.

We don't go for "easier" here; our "mission" is different ;)
