I found this cased glass cat figure at the goodwill store for $3 and was able to find one just like it on E-Bay that stated it was Murano, but I know you can't always go on what people on E-Bay say. Since I am fairly new to glass collecting if anyone knows anything about this pretty little kitty please let me know. It is 8.5" tall to the highest point on the tail and it weighs 2 lb's 13 oz's. It is clear glass cased with white glass with amethyst swirls on the tail and then cased again with clear glass, and has a large polished pontail. It is truly beautiful and I really could not resist it for the price, however I am contemplating selling it (so I can by more glass) so if any one knows what it may have for a value please let me know.
It's a lovely cat!
I am inclined to think this is likely to be recent Chinese in origin, mainly based on the finish and colour selection.
As the Ebay seller has noticed I'm sure, the Chinese make some great glass.
Enjoy!
lol..........Now I am getting myself confused here too. Now when I Look at the base I would agree with Karen that is most likely Chinese Glass......................BUT............ that was until I found a piece of Murano Art Glass with a label 9 Fratelli Toso ) and a similar base to yours

...and Directly see the base here of that piece as compared to yours:

So I am thinking Chinese, YET with the base I am thinking Murano.......so I myself am undecided on this piece. Wow, this is a tough one. AS with the link to my post -- IF that one did not have that label on it, I would have never thought mine was Murano. There is some Murano book that refers to these types of bases as Cloud bases....or something like that.
Hope Rick55 pops by too.............for his opinion
--Suppose to say ( Fratelli Toso ) above.....ignore the figure 9, bad typing.....Oooops
Thank You antiquerose ! Yes I do see the similarity in the bases, most helpful. I will keep up my investigation but no matter what I think that you will agree that was just no way to walk away from the $3 price tag on this beautiful piece of glass !
You could try the Facebook collectors group in regard to Murano. It could be a Chinese Ann Primrose.
Thank You GeodeJem,! I will give that a try.
