From 1925, this is a relish tray I believe and from Morimura Bros aka Noritake, Made in Japan. There is so much info about this company it gets very confusing to me as they have changed names many times, have their hands in many different pots and also have sub contracted work to many other companies, so the best I can do with this dish or explanation thereof is just say that I finally was able to correctly date it from it's red cherry blossom hallmark to 1925 and say that it's still a pretty amazing dish, as you might be able to see the 'luster' glaze that remains & difficult to capture. Even in person, in order to see it you have to move the dish around. The gold trim is almost gone too but there is just something about this dish I can't seem to part with. It's got to be that 'folk art' look about it...it's really kind of odd, ya think???

    Enjoy!

Not sure where it categorize this!

      Oops...forgot to say, this measures 12.5" x 2" height. That's 31.75 cm x 5.08 cm.

It's quite different and gorgeous, shape and motif. Looks like chrysanthemum and cherry blossom. It's almost like a silk embroidery I think!

It is beautiful, but not made by Morimura Brothers, but Toki Kasha, another company under the Noritake-Nippon umbrella

It's very beautiful. Somehow it doesn't have the Japanese look and design style, I haven't seen this type of work around here anywhere (except for the cherry blossom detail). That makes it all the more interesting I guess!
