Item is about 4.5 x 5 inches at its widest area.
I would like to know what the item is and who made it. I recently purchased it at an auction. It appears that something may have been scratched of the back where a signature or mark may have been. Is this just an item someone made in a craft class?

Are you trying to read a signature on the back? There is not a signature/mark on the back. It appears that something may have been scratched off the back where a signature or mark could have been.
