A lovely Satsuma vase with a heavy enameled floral design the application of enamel is so thick in several areas, such a beautiful piece, one thing that I'm puzzled about are the holes around the top ,is there a piece missing or was there maybe a leather rope that ran through the top , it was never a lamp, there is no hole through the bottom.

Thank You! Any idea about the holes around the rim of the vase?

Many of these were made into lamps. Maybe the holes were for fitting for light fixture?
