Probably 1960s and one from Tajima's range of very colourful and textured vessels. Note their typical birdbath base.

I usually see these in vases so when I spotted this bowl at a recent vintage fair I happily bought it.

It makes me think of pineapples.

Thanks Sean - the search never stops.

JB I am always learning about the little known Japanese glass and glad to pass on what I find. I appreciate your appreciation, thanks!

Out of all of your examples Karen, this one is definitely my favorite! Of course you know how much I love texture, and this one is over the top with all of those pine needles and the scalloped rim. Also, I love the shade of yellow (amber?) and how it transitions from bottom to top!

Rick I'm sure you should have a job describing glass - always on the button!
It is more yellow than amber IRL, and I do love the sharp needles against the scalloped rim!

This one is interesting. Looks like it's influence was a pineapple! And I love your rollie pollie guy too!!!

      Pineapple yeah. Thanks Sue.
Remember those dishes where that scooped out a halved pineapple and coated the diced flesh with coconut and mint and served it in the pineapple body? Maybe it was a 60s Aussie thing. Anyway, this reminds me of it.
I have never found out about that kokeshi - one day I will bother :)

Wow, so beautiful. I've recently picked and purchased a similar vase in the UK. It was labelled up as Bohemian Art Glass. You can see how though as very similar in style to Sklo Union MCM for example. I also found it extremely difficult to find any information on these Japanese Tajima crystal glass MCM pieces. My vase is sky blue / clear glass. Hopefully the link works for pic.

I've discussed this vase on many FB glass identification groups asking for help. So this find was brilliant research. Many thanks. Rob in UK ????

      Thanks Rob.
There is not a lot of info around about Japanese mid century glass unfortunately.

No probs racer4four. I posted it on show & tell to help people identity this type of glass. Like you said, very difficult to find it anywhere on the Internet. I can't see any blue pieces pictures at all!

I posted it on a few FB identification sites, and people mostly seem to attribute it to Czech Sklo Union or Polish Art Glass more often than not.

It's a beautiful piece. Hopefully our information helps others out there.

      Many thanks. Rob.
