The item were my mother's. She was borne in 1900. It is my understanding she had them when she was as young as a 16 years old. the necklace is a kind of metal beads. Now the beads tends to come apart - made of two pieces- 2 pieces together to make the bead. I am not sure when the string inside came about. The 3 hair pins my mother had from about the same age. I am interested to know whether there is any history about them such as makers of these beads, what years they made them and what the kind of metal is.

      Hi, welcome to CW :-)

Can't help for the beads, pics aren't enough to identify a metal, but this violin shaped clasp is pretty!

For the hair pins, they come from Ceylon, now Sri Lanka and are called Kondakoora!

      Beautiful hair pins.

      Great identification too Kyra!
