Again I am not sure what I got: What I do know is that it is made of organic material, but I am not sure what it is. It could be horn.
I have seen similar ones on line stating that they are "faux tortoise shell". Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mary, I love everything that looks like horn/tortoise shell: Glasses, hair thingies, bangles, and even the plastic in my car looks like it....
So when I saw the bangle, I was interested and got it. I found it at a church bazaar for 75 cents. When I got home, I had a good look at it and realized that it wasn't plastic....
Val, if that's any comfort, the upside of a broken piece is that it helps us learn more: celluloid and shell, for example, would have a different "breakage" pattern etc. Study it and keep for comparison.
