I got this chair at a antique garage sale and don't have any information about it. The gentleman that I bought it from really did not know much about it either. I just loved it so bought it and was wondering if anyone with any knowledge about old furniture could give me any information about it?

Pressback chair. These were popular in the 1890s into the early 20th century. The "carving" was actually pressed into the chair. They were sold in huge quantities through early mail order catalogs.

Your chair most likely had a cane seat when it was first made.

I used to see these all over in antique stores 20+ years ago, not so much any more.
