Hello everyone.
About time I posted something military related and thought you might like to see this piece which I have had for 6 years.
It appears to be made from copper and brass and is possibly a holly leaf.
The front is etched with "Hearty Xmas Greetings 1918".
The back is marked "Ted to Miss Goadby France 1918".
I think it is a really nice sentimental piece and can't help but wonder if Ted and Miss Goadby ended up together...........
Hope you enjoy seeing this piece, thanks Judy
Judy, that's so sweet!
Thanks Bonnie, I think so too!
Oh! Sweet story teller piece, Judy, and it still has the old tricolor ribbon!
Love that kind of "military" stuff ;-)
Thanks Pascale, these are my favourite types of military stuff too!
Judy,
This is the most wonderful vintage Christmas greeting I've ever seen. I too would like to think that Ted and Miss Goadby ended up together. Fantastic post!
Jude - saw your no cigs for 9 weeks comment - good for you! I hope you're not using one of those electronic cigs, as they are also bad news. A former friend smoked more more than 50 cigs A DAY for 55+ years - rolled her own. Now 75, her lungs have only 1/2 capacity and she is totally dependent on two electronic cigs. It's horrible to listen to someone sucking on those things. Please, please don't get stuck in that cycle.
Scott, thank you, very glad you love it as much as I do. I do love trench art and sweetheart pieces and just about anything sentimental with a name or picture or story..........they have to come home with me to be looked after!
Hey Bonnie - thank you.........Did actually get one of those e-cigs.......used it for a week I think and then thought this is stupid so threw it out and just went cold turkey!! I think we must have been really ready to give up as it hasn't been as hard as we expected it to be.......well, we haven't killed each other yet lol!! It is early days yet but we are impressed with ourselves so far and will be ok and have more money for sure!!
Thank you for your concern......all good!! Jude
