Grandpascl…
(1 item)
This is a picture of my maternal grandfather's clock. It was passed to me at my mother's death. I remember as a child seeing & hearing this clock sitting in my grandparents house on their fireplace mantel. Never was allower to touch it. When it came to me, I was surprised to find it had the orginal description sticker from the factory still on the back. Written in pencil at the top is my grandfather's name with a price of $8.50. Written on the wooded back is the date of purchase July 1942 and the store clerk's initials. On the very bottom underside of the clock stamped impression into the wood is the digits 7 42. I am assuming this would be also the date of manufacturing. This clock would have been purchased somewhere in the northern piedmont area of North Carolina or southern Virginia. Sadly in the move from my grandparents home in North Carolina to my home in southern Indiana, the winding key was lost. Hoping to locate a replacement key via Internet so before I leave this old world, I can once again hear the steady tic-tocks & hourly / half hour chimes, and dream of days gone by. Thought I would share the information on the back of the clock in case anyone else has one.
