I think that these are French, but not sure. i also don't know what the 'D' is for. i saw pics of other ones with the same 'D' there. it may be a company in France?
Still no 'Garden' category?

The D is for whoever owned the home they were used in. That would be my guess. Back then, they didn't brand stuff with maker's marks -it was all about WHO they were made for! Could they have come from Dunsmuir House, I wonder?

Wait - where did you see the others marked 'D'?
Yeah - here's one marked 'T'. 75 bucks for ONE tile!

That 'T' one looks like it has DORE on the back? Maybe contact them - their picture is hard to see. You must have marks on the back.
They are called edgers or edging tiles.
Maybe the D is the maker mark, since that part goes in the ground... Here's another great person to contact for more info. They have one exactly like yours.

OOPs - that Thompson place had a 'D' one, but not exact decor...
Here are two more, each a different design, bearing the letter "D". Email the studio and ask the meaning of the letter "D" or call them - they are in PA.

thanks so much Celiene and Efes! i think the D is for the company that made the edgers. they are really cool - even moreso in person. i just put a clear photo of the back up. no marks that i can see.
Do like these very much, sorry can't help!...:-)
no problem inky! thanks for the love!
