This is my grandfathers pocket watch. We arent sure how he came by it. Was wondering if someone had a good site or know how we can find out the history of this watch? His brother worked for the railroad and thought maybe it was a gift for years of service.
Here's a website that can help with the watch, in general:

Identifying the year of the serial number will tell you when the watch was manufactured. As to how your grandfather came to own it - if you think it was a gift from the railroad company where his brother worked then you must ask the railroad company. There should be a record of his name and length of service.
Beautiful watch! Awesome family heirloom!
