Hello! I have a pair of these lovely sconces. I posted these on an antiques board....1 person thought these may be mid century, but I think they are a lot older...
They were described as 1800's french Rococo sconces.
They are 9 1/2" tall. Brass filigree 'bowl' is attached to an open work brass back plate. The back plates are pinned to a velvet covered wood back plate.
5 porcelain flowers wired with green glass leaves. 1 sconce is in great shape...the other has repairs and is missing the bottom escutcheon.
There is an old 2 piece wood 'paddle' at the base...I assume there is one under the escutcheon.....any idea of it's purpose? The wood is very oxidized and the nails are handmade.
Any ideas or key words to help me find out about these would be great! I've tried to research these but came up empty.
Sorry for the long post! Thanks in advance
