We have had these candlesticks in our family for a very long time. They are marked with 700 D * S and some sort of wavy flag like item. Does anyone know who the maker is on these? They might be silver plate. They are gorgeous on a holiday dining table. Thanks in advance for your help.

The best candidate is : Davis & Son, Glasgow (the star in the middle)
      before 1897 - 1920
      Unfortunately, it`s silver plated.

Thanks for the information. Can you direct me to where I might see Davis & Son makers mark? Someone else gave me another option James Dixon & Sons - Sheffield. They too used the D * S mark. I can find that makers mark on line.

My assumption was based only on ``star`` mark and initial DS, but several silver-plate makers used that mark, including James Dixon & Sons - Sheffield. Neither of them fits exactly the mark on the candlestick.
