Giving thanks

This is one single carved piece of wood. I bought it for $6.99 and thought my mom would love it. I took it on my carry on bag, halfway across US to find out my mom does not even like it! I thought my mom would. This artwork measures about 14 inches tall. When I see artwork like this, I think talent. To carve a single piece of wood with such elegance. I believe that flower is symbolic so I looked up the lotus flower and read, "Lotus, there is a wealth of symbolism tying these flowers to Hinduism, Buddhism, and the ancient Egyptian’s religious practices, Also referenced was the lotus pose with knees bent upward further depicting the posture of a lotus flower. (Tailor sitting with feet tucked under so soles don't show. ) I read also, "Lotus flowers are used in art throughout Asia including China, Thailand, Japan and more."
I don' t think the flower looks like a lotus the more I look at lotus flowers and their depiction online in artwork as they look more like water lilies. I don't see the lotus pose and I don't see any carvings like her. She does not look like Egyptian, Buddhist or Hindu carvings at all. I note her ears look larger and pierced and she is questionably clothed. I believe the carving on the bottom represents water and perhaps a bucket depicted in her with water flowing at her feet from this bucket. A true Aquarian, just kidding but I was born in February and grew up with those associations. I think she represents perhaps something more akin to an African culture because of the features. Look at the contours of the face. Someone has to have a clue. An hour on the internet searching has not brought me closer to the truth but also makes me realize perhaps she is more unique then I thought.
